The Voices of Stuart

Get connected to the new site.

Once there, be sure to add it to your favorites.

Over the next couple of days I will be exploring wordpress. There is a learning curve since it provides many more options than blogger.

You may continue to post here for a few more days. All new posts will be on The Voices of Stuart.

Okay. Now there is a new website with new name. How is one going to access it through searching the web if they don't know or can't actually remember the name? I know, I'm not savvy on some of the technacalities of computers, but I have accessed blogs quite by accident that interested me. Without the name including the state, will it be as accessible through a search, or have to page through hundreds to get it?

2:09 pm - my apologies for not pointing this out specifically.

in the first line of the post there is "new site" in blue. just click on those words and it will take you directly to the new site.

once there you can add it to your favorites for future quick links.

if you wish to key it into the address bar it is:

I'm sorry also, Peg. I got there through your new site, but am wondering if someone else, say from out of town wanted to access Stuart websites, will this eventually pop up when doing a web search?

5:34 pm - i left it available for the search bots to trawl through but i have no idea if it will show anytime soon.

amazingly enough when i googled stuart, ia it came back with 26,800 results.

you can probably guess that i didn't look through them all.

come to think of it "stuart, ia" is not on the new blog yet since i haven't thought up a good tag line to put up yet.

don't let me forget and i'll see if there is a better way to accomplish this.

what are search bots?

9:53 pm - "search bots" is the nickname for the software that goes out and crawls through all the information that is stored on the www. it catalogs it with keywords and identifies where those keywords and the information is found.

after the search bots crawl through the web and catalog the information it stores it for fast retrieval to provide the results whenever you search for something on any of the search engines like google, ask jeeves, yahoo etc.

go here if you wish to know more.
